The Life of Floyd George Delahoussaye

Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Floyd George Delahoussaye, 85, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Amelia Manor Nursing Home. Fr. Thomas James, SVD will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park. Floyd was an Army veteran of World War II. He also proudly served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. Upon his retirement from the service, he returned to Lafayette,LA. He was employed by and retired from Union Oil Company of California. He was actively involved in Immaculate heart of Mary Parish as a trustee, an usher, a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, and many other groups and committees. He also had community involvement in the Magnolia Police Association, American Legion Post 504, Lafayette Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation, and other civic organizations. Mr. Delahoussaye was dedicated to his life to his family, church, and community. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by two sons, Rene (Trudie) Delahoussaye of Las Vegas, NV and Michael Delahoussaye of Lafayette; seven daughters, Agnes (Sherman) Malveaux, Victoria (Thomas) Coleman, Denise Clement, Margaret (Glen) Gathe, and Elizabeth Delahoussaye all of Lafayette, Mechelle Delahoussaye of New Orleans, and Camille (Robert) Dunn of Lilburn,GA. Also survived by eleven grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane Broussard Delahoussaye. One daughter, Therese Delahoussaye; one son, David Delahoussaye; one grandson, Logan Coleman; his parents, Leo and Virginia Martin Delahoussaye; two sisters, Elva Delahoussaye and Alma Gabriel; and one brother, Al J. Delahoussaye. Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 from 5 pm until 9 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday, August 29, 2009 beginning at 7 am until time of services.
