The Life of Edmond Claude Mouton Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Edmond Claude Mouton, Sr., 83, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Courtyard Manor in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Keith J. DeRoeun, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will perform for the services, "On Eagles' Wings", "The Lord's Prayer", "How Great Thou Art", and "Amazing Grace". Survivors include his beloved wife, Sophie Girard Mouton of Lafayette; two sons, Edmond C. Mouton, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Lafayette and Larry Mouton of Breaux Bridge; two grandchildren, Charles Edmond Mouton and Rachel Mouton; one brother, James W. Mouton and his wife, Verla of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, B. Edmond Mouton and Ellen Martin Mouton; one son, August Girard "Gus" Mouton; one sister Therese Larivie; one brother Robert "Bruce" Mouton; one nephew, Chuck Larivie; and one niece Yvonne Larivie Spaulding.A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana Mr. Mouton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he was a member of the 182nd Infantry Division and fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was owner and operator of Girard True Value Hardware Store in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Mouton was a member of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Community, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister as well as an Usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 1286, the Holy Name Society, Boy Scout Leader for Troop # 19, and also was an avid bowler. Mr. Mouton was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, but his passion in life was his family, whom he adored. He will be dearly missed not only by family and friends, but by all of those whose lives he has touched throughout the years.Pallbearers will be Edmond Mouton, Jr., Charles Mouton, Larry Mouton, John Girard, Mark Billeaud, and Robert Benoit. Giftbearers will be Sandra Mouton and Rachel Mouton.A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services.comMartin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements. 337-234-2311
