The Life of Donna Gayle Verret

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Donna Gayle Verret, 49, who passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2011 at her residence in Scott surrounded by her family and friends. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Candace Primeaux and Jennifer Verret. Giftbearers will be Monica Gary, Patricia Meche and Candace Primeaux. Musical selections will be "How Great Thou Art", "On Eagles'' Wings", "Ave Maria" and "One Bread, One Body". She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Jennifer Verret and Jessica Verret; one son, Brandon Verret; her close friend, Larry; two sisters, Patricia Meche and Candace Primeaux and her husband, Joe; one brother, Preston Verret, Jr.; the father of her children, William Verret, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Olive Bennett Bailey; and one sister, Camilla Verret. A lifelong resident of the Lafayette area, Donna was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She was a graduate of Acadiana High School and went on to attend ULL (University of Louisiana at Lafayette), where she earned her degree in Business Management. Donna enjoyed sewing, was an avid gardener and also loved decorating her home for Christmas. Her passion in life was her children whom she cared for and loved dearly. Donna will be dearly missed not only by her family and friends, but by all of those whose lives she has touched throughout the years. Pallbearers will be Brandon Verret, Kevin Primeaux, Larry, William Verret, Jr., Mark Trahan, and Joe Primeaux. The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 11:00 AM until time of services. The Verret family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice Compassus, The Cancer Center of Acadiana and the Miles Perret Center for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Donna and her family during their time of need.
