The Life of Johnnie Elise Aymond

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 3:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Johnnie T. Aymond, 92, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette. Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pastor Blaise W. Smith of Disciple of Christ Ministries, will conduct the funeral services. Eulogist will be Deacon Richard Picard. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Sweet Bye And Bye", "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace", "Just As I Am" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" for the services. Survivors include her two sons, Donald P. Aymond and his wife Melanie and David J. Aymond and his wife Deborah, all of Jeanerette; six grandchildren, Allison O'Quin, David Aymond II, Seana Tompkins, Casey Peltier, Gina McClurken and Jamie Borel; three great grandchildren, Jax O'Quin, Dominick Schexnayder and Olivia Aymond; and one brother, Jerry Tarter and his wife Leola of Denham Springs. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul James Aymond; one daughter, Jacquelyn P. Aymond; parents, James and Mineola Roach Tarter; six brothers; and two sisters. A native of Colfax, LA and a resident of Lafayette since 1964, Johnnie loved her family and friends and she enjoyed teaching young people and gardening. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Aymond's family and friends. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
