The Life of Ned Michel Leger

Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Ned Michel Leger, 77, who passed away Thursday, March 01, 2007 at his son’s residence. Reverend John De Leeuw will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Readers will be Brittni Lynn Leger, Carlton Benton and Kelvin Thibodeaux. Giftbearers will be Chantelle Alison Leger, Kristen Ashley Leger and Bethani Michelle Leger. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Leger, a native of Cankton and resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Pierre Legeré and the former Ursule Menard both of Cankton. He was the Owner/Operator of Ned Leger’s Meat Market for 30 years. He was an employee for Joe Huval Baking, Co. for his first 13 years. He enjoyed life for 77 years. He was a loving husband, father and paw paw and a wonderful provider for his family. His favorite pastime was playing cards and being the life of the party. He is survived by his wife, Verna Mae Leger of Lafayette; two sons, Russell Leger and wife, Patsy of Lafayette and Earl Leger and wife, Cheryl of Lafayette; four granddaughters, Chantelle Alison Leger, Kristen Ashley Leger, Brittni Lynn Leger, Bethani Michelle Leger; one grandson, Brody Joseph Leger; three sisters, Evelyn Leger Miller, Lucille Benton Prejean and husband, Edras and Dot Domingue and husband, Henry; and one brother, Jean “T.B.” Leger and wife, Barbara. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lena L. Borak and Clementine Leger Carrier; four brothers, George Legeré, Thomas Black Legeré, Joseph Pierre Legeré and Calvin Legeré. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited Friday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ray Legeré, Carlton Benton, Sidney Thibodeaux, Chad Leger, Jason Domingue and Sherman Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Brody Leger and his nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend thank you to Dr. Cain, Journey Hospice and his personal nurse Kim and to Lafayette General Medical Center 8th Floor Staff. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
