The Life of Phyllis Annette Helton

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Phyllis Mannina Helton, 67, who passed away on June 1, 2010 at 4:50 pm at Magnolia Estates.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Helton, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Anthony John Mannina of Jeanerette, LA and the former Mildred Paschall of Blodget, MO. Phyllis graduated from Jeanerette High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves before pursuing a career in the oil industry. She was a proud member of "Desk and Derrick" and had the distinction of being the first female employee to work offshore for a major oil company and also worked on the North Slope of Alaska during the construction of the "Alaska Pipeline" in the 1970''''s.

She is survived by two sisters, Rosetta Roy and Kaye Melancon and her husband, Harold; one brother, Tony Mannina and his wife Sue all of Lafayette, LA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of services.

Pallbearers will be Tony Mannina, Russell Roy, Rick Roy, Jason Sullivan, Logan Johnston and Greg Racca. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaye Melancon, Rosetta Roy, Ruth Moats and Kalyn Johnston.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
