The Life of Cliven Paul Woods
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Cliven P. Woods, 91, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Cornerstone South in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Concelebrant will be Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott. Giftbearers will be Amy Montet, Laurie Cole, Christie Girard and Kelly Deboard. Lectors will be Mandie Shook and Shelley Gallet. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "On Eagles'' Wings", "Be Not Afraid", "You''ll Never Walk Alone" and "Taste and See" for the services.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Woods Bakeler (Arthur Bakeler, Jr.) and Barbara Woods Bakeler (David Bakeler) both of Lafayette; two sons, Robert Neal Woods (Bonnie) of Katy, TX and Michael Paul Woods (Mary Lena) of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura LeGros Woods; parents, Onezime and Azilda Thibodeaux Woods; sisters, Nola Stutes, Agnes Primeaux, Gladys Trahan and Anita Abshire; and brothers, Loify Woods, Wallace Woods and Neelis Woods.
A native of Gueydan and a resident of Lafayette since 1965, Cliven was a retired Accountant, a parishioner of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Robert Woods, Michael Woods, Douglas Bakeler, Kevin Woods, Kory Woods, Nathan Woods and David Bakeler.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Lafayette location on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed on Friday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
