The Life of Bertha Cossich
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at an 11:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Bertha Nesby Cossich, age 77, who passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at her residence in Duson.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Danny T. Hebert, Associate Pastor of Riverside Church of Christ, will officiate the services.Survivors include her husband, Carroll P. Cossich of Duson; one daughter, Kelli C. Mercier and her husband, Todd Mercier of Duson; two sons, Marc L. Cossich and his wife, Monique of Nacogdoches, Texas and Cal Cossich, Jr. of Lafayette; one step daughter, Debbie Cossich Martin of Pascagoula, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Cal Cossich III, Jake Mercier, Molly Mercier, Jay Baker and Miranda Baker and five great grandchildren, Chloe, Grant and Carter Baker and Braden and Staten Baker.She was preceded in death by her parents, Newt Nesby and the former, Agnes Singletary; two sisters, Doris Schoppe and Patsy Holiday.Mrs. Cossich was a native of Montgomery County, Texas, born on May 25, 1932 and was a resident of Duson, Louisiana for thirteen years. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother, who truly took great pride in her family. Mrs. Cossich was a pleasant, easy going and caring person and had the title of being everyone's "Mom" on the block. Everything was always good with her and she enjoyed life with easy strides. She enjoyed coaching softball and instructing cheerleading.Pallbearers will be Marc L. Cossich, Todd Mercier, Jake Mercier, Eric Schoppe, Bryce Schoppe, Jay Baker, Cal Cossich III and Philip Cossich, Jr . Honorary pallbearers are Philip Cossich, Sr., Doug Schoppe, Keith Schoppe and Dave Hayes.The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of the services.
