The Life of Anne Roy

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Ann V. Roy, 89, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Jana Trahan and Jamie Trahan. Lectors will be Suzanne Revere and Louis Dale Vincent.

Survivors include one son, James Harold Roy; two grandchildren, David Roy and Mitzi Montz; three great grandchildren, Thomas Roy, Noah Roy and Kendrick Roy; and one sister, Marie Paula Broussard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Roy; parents, Elie and Louisa Hebert Vincent; grandparents, Desire Hebert, Melia Bertrand, Eloi Vincent and Marie Hebert; seven sisters, Aurelia Perry, Edith Roy, Jeanne Vincent, Leonie Letullier, Marie Louise Cain, Annabelle Vincent and Emelie Vincent; one brother, Eliere "Jack" Vincent; two step-daughters, Louisa Revere and Jeanette Begnaud; and one daughter-in-law, Gloria Roy.

Ann Roy was a native of Maurice and a resident of Lafayette for seventy-one years. She was a very active member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and was an honoree and recipient of the Bishop''s Medal as well as the Papal Blessing for her work in the church. She was an accomplished seamstress and made all of the flags that fly over the Cathedral grounds for different occasions. She was a member of the St. Anne Society, Catholic Daughters of America, volunteered for St. Joseph''s Diner and a part of the Cathedral Altar Society and French Rosary Group. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, volunteering, cooking, crocheting, reading and visiting with family and friends. Mrs. Roy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Pallbearers will be Mike Revere, David Montz, David Roy, Jimmy Roy, Louis Dale Vincent and Alan Begnaud.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed on Friday at 4:00 PM by the Cathedral Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and the St. Anne''s Society, followed by a French Rosary by the St. John Cathedral French Rosary Group in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
