The Life of Joyce Broussard

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette for Joyce St. Marie Broussard, 75, who passed away peacefully at 1:15 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her so very much. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.The Reverend Steven C. LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church,will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass, con-celebrated by Reverend Monsignor Harry E. Benefiel and Reverend Thomas P. Voorhies, Pastor of St. Anthony of Padula Catholic Church in Eunice. Lector will be Tracy Curtis of Lafayette. Eulogist will be her oldest daughter, Lee Ann Broussard. The St. Pius X Church Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Karen Melancon, accompanied on the organ by Mr. Kevin Martin, will sing for the Funeral Mass "Remember Me", "In the Breaking of the Bread", and "Battle Hymn of the Republic". Mrs. Charlene Howard will sing "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles'' Wings" and "You''ll Never Walk Alone". Mr. Larry McCullough, guitarist, accompanied on the organ by Mr. Marcus McCullough, will play "Goodness and Mercy". Joyce is survived by her three loving children, and one step-daughter, Lee Ann Broussard of Lafayette, Mitch Broussard of Lafayette, Penny Lee Bellard and her husband, Alfred Joseph Bellard of Fayetville, Arkansas, and step-daughter Myra Lee Broussard-Sutton and her husband, Jerry Kent Sutton of Richardson, TX.; four grandchildren, Ricci Lee Wages and her husband, Kyle Jason Wages of Conway, Arkansas, Logan Lucette Broussard and Caroline Ashlin Broussard both of Lafayette, and Aubrey Ruth Sutton of Houston, Texas.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lee H. Broussard and her parents, Sidney J. St. Marie and Helen A. St. Marie.Joyce worked as a legal secretary for Ben Voorhies, Jr. She later became a medical transcriptionist for Cardiovascular Institute of the South, where she was employed for more than 12 years. She continued in the field of health care until three years ago when she joined the staff of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she served as Secretary/Receptionist for the Church. Joyce was an avid LSU sports fan; loved New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers professional football; and soon became a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and frequently pulled for the Ragin Cajuns. She enjoyed watching Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson on the golf course. In the winter, she was thrilled by any and all ice skating events. Joyce loved music and gave all of her children an appreciation for entertainment on every level. Her favorite hobby of all time was to take her family and friends out to eat at her favorite restaurants which included Judice Inn, Pat''s in Henderson, Ruth''s Chris Steak House, Lafayette''s, and Olive Garden. Her sense of humor and "joie de vivre", touched all who came into her life.The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.Pallbearers will be Kyle Jason Wages, Alfred Joseph Bellard, Jerry Kent Sutton, Richard Andre, Tracy Ardito and Robert Burgess.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the local ALS Association, the doctors and nurses at Lafayette General Medical Center, and to Hospice of Acadiana, for their kindness, and gentle care given to Mrs. Broussard during her time of need.  Lafayette, 337-234-2311
