Mrs. Kemp, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Waterson Reily and the former Mabel Carter. She was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church. Beryl was a senior alumnus of LSU, a great tiger fan and also an avid Saints follower. Among her LSU achievements, she was voted best dancer and introduced The Charleston to Baton Rouge. She graduated LSU in Sociology and served as a Social Worker for the state until retirement. All who knew her remember how she selflessly committed her time to others. She was an outstanding cook with the world''s best recipe for chicken sauce piquant. At the age of 102, family and friends remark that she never had a negative thing to say about anyone. Her positive attitude and resiliency carried her above life''s adversities. Throughout her life she was active in her church, including being a long-time member of the Altar Guild and the Olive Branch, serving well into her 90''s. Up until the time of her death, she remained truly involved with her family and friends and was witty, charming and loving. She lived her life with dignity and grace and will be truly missed by all.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Christie Ann Kemp of Lafayette, LA, Lynn Kemp Sewell and husband Brad of Boyce, LA, Howell Ford Kemp of Lafayette, LA and Beryl Irene Kemp of Lafayette, LA; two great grandchildren, Andrew Bennett Sewell, M.D. of Nashville, TN and Amy Sewell Upton of Baton Rouge, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carlton Christie Kemp; son, Carlton Christie Kemp, M.D.; and one sister, Beverly Reily White.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Charise Kelly, Mary Portalis, Renella Leday, Roxanne Glover and Nola Zeno as well as special friend, Tammy Landry. Our sincerest gratitude and thanks to "The Lady in White", Liz Comeaux.
