The Life of Tri Minh Tran

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Mr. Tri Minh Tran, 64, who passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at LSU-University Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette. Mr. Tran was born Monday, December 31, 1945 in Chau Doc, Vietnam and was a long-time resident of Lafayette. Tri was a former Marine in the South Vietnamese Army. He was employed for many years in Acadiana as a hard-working laborer in the seafood industry. Tri was an animal lover and enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed watching ongoing activity in his neighborhood and would have loved to be a politician. Tri most loved caring for his family and spending time with them, and will be deeply missed. Mr. Tran is survived by his beloved wife Can Nguyen, of Lafayette; three sons, Vincent Tran and his wife, Kesly of Lafayette, Tuan Tran and his wife, Thanh also of Lafayette, and Thanh Tran, of Abbeville; two daughters, Phuong Tran and her husband, Quan of Lafayette, and Loan Tran and her husband, Trung of Abbeville; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Den Van Tran and Nau T. Nguyen, of Chau Doc, Vietnam. Visiting hours were observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
