The Life of William Paul Borel
Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church for William Paul Borel, 82, who passed away on June 27, 2010, at 6:50PM at his residence.
Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Bryce Sibley, Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church will con-celebrate.
Lectors will be Jack Proffitt and Dennis Vitrella.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Borel, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late George Borel and the former Zulma Blanchard. Bill was a retired high school teacher, having taught at Northside and Carencro High Schools. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church who served in various capacities which included Eucharistic Minister, parish council member and Money Counter. He participated in several prayer groups and Bible studies.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller Borel: three daughters, Michelle Reisel and husband, Joseph; Lisa C. Borel; and Bridget Avila and husband, Richard; four grandchildren, Nicole Hebert, Madeleine, Dax and Jean-Paul Avila; one sister- in-law, Ruby Borel; one brother- in-law, Alton Dugas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Emelie Mitchell and Ann Dugas; three brothers, Claude, Fred and O''Neil Borel.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers Friday, July 2, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service.
A rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:00 pm by Reverend Curtis Mallet.
The family would like to thank the staff of Louisiana Homecare of Lafayette, staff of Hospice of Acadiana and his caregivers for their compassionate care; Drs. Eugene Brierre, Nathan Landry, Jeffrey Thibodeaux and Larry Russell; members of the faith community, family, friends and neighbors who brought joy and support throughout his lengthy illness.
