The Life of David Stephen Dawkins

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at a 3:00 PM Service in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel for David Stephen Dawkins, 57, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his residence in Broussard.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will officiate the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Be Not Afraid", "How Great Thou Art", "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "Amazing Grace".Survivors include his beloved wife, Virginia Reeves Dawkins of Broussard; one daughter, Stephanie Dawkins; two sons, Derick Dawkins and Cory Dawkins; one grandchild, Jayden Dawkins; his mother, Evelyn Hansel Dawkins; one sister, Sandra Adkins; and four brothers, Randy Dawkins, Hunt Dawkins, Bobby Dawkins and Timmy Dawkins. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Dawkins; and one sister, Ruthie Dawkins.A native of McComb, Mississippi and resident of Broussard, Louisiana for most of his life, Mr. Dawkins was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He worked for EP Breaux Electrical as an electrician for many years. Mr. Dawkins enjoyed music and playing base guitar. He was a proud member of the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's Southside Location.The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
