The Life of Chad Alexis Newgebaver

Your children and your brother, Brett Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Chad Newgebaver, 38, who passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Lafayette. Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. Reverend Mike Walker, Senior Pastor of East Bayou Baptist Church in Lafayette will conduct the funeral services. Julie Broussard, vocalist, accompanied by Valerie Andrus, organist and soloist, will sing "I will Rise", "I Can Only Imagine", "At The Foot of The Cross", "Always Be A Child" and "Battle Hymn of The Republic" for the services. Survivors include his fiancé, Victoria "Vicki" Burns; parents, Gerald "Jerry" and Patricia "Pat" Newgebaver; one brother, Brett Brinkman and his fiancé Donna Peck; four children, Amanda Burns, Maryellen Burns, Kelly Burns and Jake Burns; one uncle, Lloyd Turner; five aunts, Phyllis Hebert and her husband Pete, Pam Dugas Furness, Joyce Dugas McKinny and her husband Robert, Janelle Benoit and her husband John and Marian Homes Newgebaver; his soon to be in-laws, Norman Veilleux, Gene and Tillie Morein; brother-in-laws, John and Les Veilleux; sister-in-law, Suzette Veilleux; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alexis Newgebaver, Sr. and Nella Desormeaux Newgebaver; maternal grandparents, Alcide "AB" Dugas and Genevieve "Gigs" Dugas; one aunt, Priscilla Dugas Magnon; and three uncles, Alexis Newgebaver, Jr., Thomas Roy Newgebaver and Greg Furness. Chad Newgebaver, known to many as "Newg", was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, while in school at USL (now ULL), proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army 256th Division from 1992-1997 and was employed at Insurance Unlimited of Lafayette as a sales agent. He loved camping and riding motorcycles and volunteered his time with many Autistic children in Acadiana. Chad, "Newg", will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Russell Janise, Brett Brinkman, Travis Benoit, John Abbott, Tag Doss, Clint Carriere, Rusty Culotta and Mark Slim Andrews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Corey Albarado, Bert King, Jeremy Girod, Shawn Hebert, Shayne Hebert, Chris Dugas, Dwayne Benoit, Christina Newgebaver and Monique Guiterrez. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed by Karin Viator, who was a special and loving person in Chad''s life, on Thursday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the name of Chad Newgebaver to Acadiana Therapeutic Riding Organization (ATRO), P.O. Box 80569, Lafayette, LA 70598. This organization promotes the rehabilitation of individuals with physical, emotional and learning disabilities through equine therapy, especially helping those who have Autism.
