The Life of Curley Joseph Bernard

Broussard – Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Curley Joseph Bernard,78 , who passed away March 16, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Rev. Lambert Lein, SVD will conduct the services. Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Curley was a life-long farmer who enjoyed his “gardens” during the summers, a 35 year veteran school bus driver for Lafayette Parish School Board and a small business owner. He lived a good life and through his generosity and care for others he will not be forgotten by many who had the wonderful fortune of knowing his love and charity. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Frances Lee Harmon Bernard; two sons, Darrell Bernard of Broussard, Marvin Bernard(wife, Deirdre) of Lafayette; four daughters, Jan Bernard Green and Curlis Bernard Trahan Savoy (husband, Morgan Sr.), both of Milton, Tracie Bernard of Scott and Leisha Bernard Mallery (husband, Breanley, Jr.) of Friendswood, TX; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Keith) Castille, Jales (Kenney) Henry, Keston, Brittany, Cleophas, Jr., Darilyn, Breanna (Justin) Coronado, Janson, Brashada, Morgan, Jr., Jamaura, Amanda, Kali, Markalon and Mariah; six great grandchildren, Andre, Julian, Cameron, Kyle, Cierra, Tristan and Cailyn. He is also survived by two brothers, Chester and George Bernard of Lafayette and two sisters, Mary Gallien of Lafayette and Connie Reedom of San Antonio, TX and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ephrom Bernard and Amy Davis Bernard; his brothers, Ernest, Lewis and Dudley and sister, Florence Joseph and many close family and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 8 a.m. until time of service.
