The Life of Thelma Lyons
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Thelma Lyons, age 78, the former Thelma Clavier, who died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at 2:33 PM in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend John de Leeuw will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Pastor Wayne Lyons will give closing remarks and prayer. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the Funeral Services, "You Are Near", "Nearer My God to Thee", "Amazing Grace", "Here I Am Lord" and "Silent Night". Survivors include her husband of fifty nine and a half years, Dave Lyons; four sons, Pastor Wayne Lyons and his wife, Darlene, John Lyons and his wife, Daisy, Gary Lyons and Larry Lyons; four daughters, Pauline Gaspard and her husband, Roland, Cheryl Melancon and her husband, Joe, Annette Lyons Meaux and her husband, Randy and Dora O''Quinn; thirty one grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beauregard and Alicia Richard Clavier; two sons, Harold Charles Lyons and Dave Grant Lyons; two grandsons, Albert, "T-Wayne" Faulk and Corey Gautreaux and two great grandsons, Tahj and Haven. Mrs. Lyons was a native of Church Point and a resident of Lafayette. She was a volunteer for fourteen years at the Monsignor A.O. Sigur Service Center, where she received awards for outstanding accomplishments in service for helping the poor. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass. Pallbearers are Randy Meaux, Joe Melancon, Troy Abshire, Casey Lyons, Jason Lyons and Lester Clavier. Honorary pallbearers will be John Widener, Kevin Roger and Jaylon Lyons.
