The Life of Dave Lyons
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 11:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Dave “Pee Wee” Lyons, 86, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at his residence in Carencro.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. Pastor Wayne Lyons, his son, will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include four daughters, Cheryl Melancon and her husband Joe, Annette Lyons Meaux and her husband Randy, Pauline Gaspard and her husband Roland and Dora O’Quinn and her fiance Ronald Mouton; four sons, Pastor Wayne Lyons and his wife Darlene, John Lyons and his wife Daisy, Larry Lyons and Gary Lyons; thirty-one grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 1/2 years, Thelma Clavier Lyons; parents, Charlie and Dora Lavergne Lyons; two sons, Harold Charles Lyons and Dave Grant Lyons; two grandsons, T-Wayne Faulk and Corey Gautreaux; two great grandsons, Tahj and Haven.A native of Church Point and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life, Dave Lyons, known to many as “Pee Wee”, was a volunteer for many years at the Monsignor A. O. Sigur Service Center. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII in Normandy and Central Europe from 1943-1945 as part of the 843rd Engineer Aviation Battalion. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Pallbearers will be Joe Melancon, Randy Meaux, Troy Abshire, Casey Lyons, Jason Lyons and John Widener.Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Roger, Jaylon Lyons, Tyson Clavier and Ronald Mouton.
