Landry; one son, William G. “Billy” Landry; a grandson, Patrick J. “Jep” Pastor and one son-in-law, Thomas Culotta and her parents, Emile Joseph and Floristen Boudreaux LeBlanc. In 1934 Willie and Maude Landry joined forces to operate Alzace Landry, Willie’s father’s small meat market. Maude’s previous employer had been Gondor Joseph’s General Merchandise Store. Her experience there was an asset to the business. Together they enlarged their inventory to make a small grocery store, calling it Landry’s French Market. The grocery store prospered and grew to take in the whole corner of Vermilion and E. Congress. In 1952 Willie and Maude joined forces with his brothers, Don and Ashby Landry, who were enjoying great success, in a restaurant building behind the French Market, called Don’s Seafood Inn. The three brothers and their wives took in the French Market property and completely remodeled the two buildings, renaming it Don’s Seafood and Steak House. Maude, an excellent cook herself, edited Don’s first cook book. Working behind the scenes, she kept inventory and stocked the food warehouse. Many years later she wrote her own cook book, calling it Family Secrets. She loved writing poetry, singing and playing the piano.Devoted to her Catholic faith, her club affiliations were Mt. Carmel PTA, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar Societies of each Church Parish of which she was a member.Maude raised her seven children through good times and bad. During her children’s school years, she devoted her cooking skills, time and money freely to fund raising events for the two schools, Cathedral and Mt. Carmel. In her retirement years, Miss Maude devoted her culinary talents, and strong organizational skills to Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel on the then S.L.I. Campus. Cheerfully and with great generosity, she handled any social event or Church function, that was needed. Her family would like to pay a special tribute to her care takers for so many years, Dr. Shirley Covington, Sib Perez, Theresa Lambert, Mae Venable, Eva Walker and Sally Lemaire.A very special thanks from Maugie Pastor to her husband and children. To Pat, who took care of Moo Moo’s financial affairs, shopped for her groceries, ran errands, did her banking and was never too busy to stop by and have a cup of coffee with her. Singing cajun songs with her, “en francais”. Toward the end, just being there for her. To Maugie & Pat’s daughters, Leah Pastor, RN and Dr. Mary Claire Pastor Haver, who took care of their Grandmother’s medical needs. A special tribute to our sons, Bob, Jim, Jude, Jeremiah and John Pastor, who carried their precious Moo Moo when she could no longer walk. Moo Moo was a sweet and gentle lady, who gave from her heart the love that has sustained us all. Her faith in the goodness of people never wavered. In her later years, as she slowly lost touch with those she loved, when she could no longer see, talk, or walk. When she no longer knew who we were. She never lost her gentle spirit. She was an inspiration to all who visited and cared for her. Her care takers told the family she is the sweetest lady they ever cared for. God Bless you, Mama. May you rest in peace in the love that surpasses all understanding. God’s love.A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of Service.
