The Life of Adele Couvillon

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Adele DesOrmeaux Couvillon, 83, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her residence in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Allen Couvillon, of Lafayette; daughters, Angela Couvillon of Lafayette, Marlene Couvillon of Lafayette, sons, Billy Couvillon of Natchez, Mississippi, and his wife Mary Lynn, Jim Couvillon, of Alvin, Texas, and his wife Patty, and daughter Edie Riedel of Broussard, and her husband, Rob; nine grandchildren, Sarah Couvillon, Sam Couvillon, Ben Couvillon, Danielle Fontenot, Ashley Prejean, Cassidy Allison, Garrett Langford, Shelby Riedel, Josh Riedel; 7 great grandkids, and a beloved niece, Christina Allen and her husband, Mark and sons Stevie and Andrew. She is preceded in death by her parents, Evard and Edith DesOrmeaux; her brothers, Dewey, Dudley and Duffy DesOrmeaux, and her sister, Mae Dell DesOrmeaux Lowery. Mrs. Couvillon enjoyed bowling, gardening, painting, fishing, sewing, playing bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was born in Ged, Louisiana, and raised in Hackberry. She has been a resident of Lafayette for the last 40 years and parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church, was actively involved with RSVP, a senior citizen volunteer program. She loved cooking for her family, and was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh, and was always the center of the family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be dearly missed. Pall bearers will be Billy Couvillon, Jim Couvillon, Sam Couvillon, Ben Couvillon, Rob Riedel, and Josh Riedel. A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services. The entire Couvillon Family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to the staff of Paramount Hospice. This amazing organization has gone above and beyond all expectations to take care of our Mother and the entire family.
