The Life of Frank Joseph Romeo

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2005 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Frank Joseph Romeo, age 80, who died Monday, December 26, 2005 at 9:10 AM in Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor.  Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.    Reverend Monsignor Richard von Phul Mouton, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. The St. Pius X Church Choir will sing for the services, "On Eagles'' Wings", "Psalm 23", "Ave Maria", "The Lord''s Prayer", "Battle Hymn Of The Republic"  Mr. Romeo, the son of Joseph Cosmo Romeo and Rosalie Battaglia Romeo, was a native of Memphis, Tennessee.  He was a graduate of Christian Brothers College in Memphis and Vanderbilt University School of Law in Nashville.  Mr. Romeo was a Commercial Mortgage Banker for many years and was with Hancock Mortgage and Equitrust Mortgage in Gulfport, Mississippi, before moving to Lafayette in 1991. He continued his mortgage banking and real estate career until his retirement.  Mr. Romeo served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre.  He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knight with the St. Pius Knights of Columbus Council 8901.  Mr. Romeo was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing golf with his friends.  Survivors include his wife, Ninette Mouton Romeo of Lafayette; two sons, Joseph Romeo of Dover, Delaware and Perry Romeo and his wife, Nancy of Herndon, Virginia; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by four step children, Yvonne Marie Major, Mark Felix Major, Scott Louis Major, all of Lafayette and Yvette Major Neal and her husband, Ron of Katy Texas and six step grandchildren.  Mr. Romeo was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Cosmo and Rosalie Battaglia Romeo; his sister, Catherine Romeo Cervetti Carney and one brother, Santo Romeo. Pallbearers will be Joseph Romeo, Mark Major, Scott Major, Ron Neal, Richard Dupuis, and Karl W. Bengtson.  A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 4:30 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM               and will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Romeo''s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.    Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral  Home, Inc. of Lafayette, Louisiana.337-234-2311
