The Life of Joseph Menard

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers, Lafayette, for Joseph ''Pop'' Menard. Joe died peacefully at the age of 88 in the care of his family on Monday afternoon. He is loved and will be missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by the Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott. The burial will immediately follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park. Joe will be buried along side his loving wife of fifty-six years, Verna Menard, who preceded him in death by nine years.
Joseph Menard worked for Lamb Rental Tools for many years and has been retired from Weatherford Lamb since 1977. He was an avid gardener throughout his retirement and loved providing all of his family and friends with fresh vegetables. His favorite thing to do was cook lunch for the entire family on a weekly basis. For years we have all gathered together at the table for a good home cooked meal, this is something we will always remember and hopefully continue even though he is gone.
Joseph was the son of the late Albert and Bridget Menard of Breaux Bridge, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Landry Menard; his son, Kenneth J. Menard; his daughter, Gloria Menard Robicheaux; one brother, Pierre ''Pete'' Menard; and two sisters, Anna Lou Poirier, and Imelda Speyrer.
He is survived by his daughters, Audrey Menard, Geraldine ''Dee'' Menard Lutgring, and Debra Menard Hamilton; one brother, Dalton Menard of Breaux Bridge, LA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Acadiana for their devoted care, and our many friends and relatives for their support during Pop''s long illness.
Visiting hours were observed on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Ron Robicheaux, Randy Robicheaux, James Lutgring, Brad Hamilton, Hunter Robicheaux, and Quinn Robicheaux. Honorary pallbearer is Kent Menard.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
