The Life of Hazel I Smith

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 11, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Hazel Smith, 94, who passed away Friday, December 8, 2006 at Maison de Lafayette nursing home. Reverend Ira Robinson, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Smith, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Scott Darnell and the former Zilla McCoy. She trained as a nurse at Highland Sanitariom. She enjoyed traveling and the love of her family. Survivors include three daughters, Millicent Jones of Lafayette, Martha Hitt of Lafayette, and Donna Hart and husband, Gordon of Beaumont, Texas; eight grandchildren, Gwen Waugh, David Jones and wife, Tracie, Shari Raggio and husband, Jeff, Dana Hulin and husband, Rickey, Denise Henry and husband, Mark, Kim Rollins and husband, Chris, Julie Brewster and husband, Gary, and Cindy Samoff and husband, Randy; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grand son; two step great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Smith; two sisters, Cybil Dempsey, and Gwen Brown; one brother, Thomas Darnell; and two sons-in-law, David Jones, and Frank Hitt. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Pallbearers will include Gordon Hart, David Jones, Rickey Hulin, Josh Hulin, Jeff Raggio, and Brett Henry. Honorary pallbearers will include Dane Raggio, Tyler Raggio, Mark Henry, Chris Rollins, Gary Brewster, Randy Samoff, and George Dempsey. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
