The Life of Kathryn Breaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2007 at11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette for Mrs. Edgar Paul (Kathryn) Breaux, Jr., who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at her home in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette.The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop-Elect, Diocese of Lake Charles, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Con Celebrants will be Reverend Monsignor Harry E. Benefiel and Reverend Lloyd F. Benoit.Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, Dr. Edgar Paul Breaux, Jr. of Lafayette; three daughters, Ann Clark and her husband, Stuart of Lafayette, Mary Breaux Jones of Shreveport, and Kathleen Broussard and her husband, Bradley of Lafayette; three sons, Michael J. Breaux and Jean McMillin Breaux, Dr. E. Paul Breaux, III, and his wife, Carolyn and Dr. Edward F. Breaux and his wife, Roxanne all of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Osterberger of Baton Rouge; nineteen beautiful grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Breaux, Michael Joseph Breaux, Dr. Jason Anthony Breaux,, Dr. Jennifer Breaux Pugliese, Alison Clair Breaux, Emily Elizabeth Breaux, Kathryn Clark Sintz, Elizabeth Curran Clark, Stuart Gaither Clark, V, Christopher Peavy Breaux, Edward Flynn Breaux, Lauren Elize Breaux, William Edgar Breaux, Taylor Edgar Jones, Nicholas Gene Jones, Kathryn Claire Jones, Caroline Kelly Broussard, Andrew Charles Broussard, and Matthew Joseph Broussard; and two great grandchildren, Madeline Marie and Anna Claire Breaux.She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Joseph Flynn and Anna Shaw Flynn; one brother, Joseph Edward Flynn; one granddaughter, Mary Kathryn Broussard; and a loyal friend, Alfreda Williams Dugas.A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Kathryn graduated from De Sales Heights Academy in Parkersburg and from Louisiana State University in 1946. Kathryn completed an internship in Medical Technology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.A resident of Lafayette since 1948, Kathryn was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, where she served as a volunteer in many capacities. She served as a Lay Minister, Homebound Minister, past president of the Altar Society and a member of the Pastoral Care Unit of Lafayette General Medical Center. Kathryn enjoyed years of service as a volunteer for Faith House, St. Joseph?s Diner and St. Luke?s Hospice. She was an active member of the Serra Club of Lafayette and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.Kathryn was a Sustainer in the Junior League of Lafayette and served as president of Les Vingt Quartre, and L?Avenir. She served as president of the Lafayette Museum Association and was instrumental in the restoration project recently completed. Also, as a member of the Lafayette Medical Auxillary, she spearheaded the development of the Acadian Village Medical Museum. Kathryn also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Heymann Center for the Performing Arts.Kathryn attained certification as a Master Gardener. She especially enjoyed her regular backyard tennis matches with her dear friends. Her many joys in life included cooking, traveling, and entertaining friends and family.The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.A Rosary will be prayed by The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop-Elect, on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.Pallbearers will be Michael Joseph Breaux, Jason Anthony Breaux, Stuart Gaither Clark, V, Christopher Peavy Breaux, Edward Flynn Breaux, Taylor Edgar Jones, Nicholas Gene Jones, and Andrew Charles Broussard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Paul Hilliard, Mr. Hubert "Red" Dumesnil, Dr. James Odom, Mr. Jerry Ard, Dr. Harold Chastant, Dr. Charles Boustany, Mr. Nicholas Sintz, and Mr. Craig Pugliese.The family would like to thank Mrs. Margaret Gary, Laura and Lee Roy Lawrence, Mrs. Dorothy Portlock, Ms. Louella Cormier, and the physicians, nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana for providing unending love, care and comfort.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima School for the benefit of, Mary Kathryn Broussard Memorial Fund, 2315 Johnston Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503, or the Lafayette Museum Association, 1122 Lafayette Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501.
