The Life of Doris Mae Picard

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Doris Mae Picard, 79, who passed away on July 9, 2009 at 6:40 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Picard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Sidney Louviere of Lafayette, LA and the former Alice Benton of Lafayette, LA. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Church. The family would like to give special thanks to Jeffery Laborde and the staff of Laborde Diagnostics, the staff of Oncologics, Dr. F. Deltoro, Dr. Danesfhar, Dr. Cain and Dr. Rossen, the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes 3 west and IMCU, Becky Benoit, Comfort Care Nurse at Our Lady of Lourdes, Hospice of Acadiana and all of her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, June Picard Arton and husband Buddy of Breaux Bridge, two sons, Edward J. Picard, Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Brian K. Picard and wife Heidi McGrew of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Andrew Arton, Aaron Arton, Chad Picard, Rebecca Picard and Meghan Picard; two sisters, Lois Cronin of Lafayette, and Janet Delatte.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Picard, Sr., two sisters, Jane Martin and Dorothy Begnaud; and four brothers, Sidney Louviere, Jr., Mark "Pee Wee" Louviere, Leopold Louviere and Anthony Louviere.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday evening in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brian and Chad Picard, Buddy, Andrew and Aaron Arton, and Mike Nepveaux.

Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Picard to Hospice of Acadiana, American Lung Association-Louisiana Chapter or St. Jude Children''s Hospital.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
