The Life of Clayton James Abadie

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Clayton James Abadie, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Cornerstone South Nursing Home in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites. Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Karen Melancon, soloist, will sing for the services, accompanied on the organ by Kevin Martin. Survivors include four daughters, Charmaine Albarado and her husband, Billy Albarado of Milton, Angela Abadie of Lafayette, Elizabeth Williams and her husband, Bruce Williams of Carencro and Kelli Abadie of Carencro; three sons, James Abadie and his wife, Debra of Carencro, Randolph Abadie of Lafayette and Mitchell Abadie of Seattle, Washington; ten grandchildren, Michelle Domec, Sean Bernard, Brandi Nelson, Holli Harmon, Jeremy Baham, Rachel Abadie, Sara Richard, Kathryn Abadie, Allyson Abadie and Erin Abadie; five great grandchildren, Trevor Hebert, Brennan Harmon, Brianna Harmon, Tristyn Domec and Brileigh Harmon and one sister, Mary Alice "Mimi" Ashy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolph Abadie and the former, Laura Voorhies; five sisters, Lela Mae Andrus, Vivian Guidry, Elsie Menard, Evelyn Savoie, Frances Monte''; two brothers, Harold Abadie and Milton Abadie and a great grandson, Paul Harmon, Jr.Mr. Abadie was a native of Carencro and longterm resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him. Mr. Abadie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant. During this time, his proudest accomplishment was being voted Instructor of the year. Later, Mr. Abadie was employed as a Tax Collector with the Lafayette Parish School Board. He also volunteered as an Ombudsman for many years.The family would like to thank the staff of Cornerstone and Hospice of Acadiana for all the care, love and support over the past few years. Special thanks to Dad''s angel and caregiver, Romelldia "Mel" Brown for treating our father like her own "poppa."The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s Downtown location Wednesday March 24, 2010 from 10:00 AM to service time. A Rosary will be prayed by his daughter, Charmaine Albarado at 12:00 PM (noon) in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Martin & Castille, 330 St. Landry St.-Lafayette, 234-2311
