The Life of Louis Sidney Stutes Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Louis Sidney Stutes, age 89, who passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 9:30 AM at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mr. Stutes was a native of Scott and had been a resident of Sunset for the past 43 years. He was a dedicated employee of Lafayette Woodworks, where he was one of the first employees hired, until his retirement. Mr. Stutes was a Life Member of the VFW in Carencro. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in combat in North Africa and Europe. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rose Mary Benton Stutes of Sunset; one son, Wayne Sydney Stutes and wife, Linda, of Griffin, GA; two daughters, Ramona Mary Fahey and husband, Kenneth, of Dahlonega, GA, Carolyn Anne Keller and husband, R. Lee Grimes, of Pearland, TX; nine grandchildren, Robert Stutes, Jennifer Sieczko, Bryan Fahey, Benjamin Fahey, Sandy Keller, Harvey Grimes, Eli Grimes, Jake Grimes, and Elle Grimes; and seven great grandchildren, Madison Stutes, Sidnee Stutes, Kolton Stutes, Samantha Sieczko, Ethan Sieczko, Drew Harris, and Ansley Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sidney Stutes, Sr. and the former Artemis Bernard; one brother, Aaron Stutes; one sister, Rena Thompson; three half-brothers, Claude Stutes, George Stutes and Clovis Stutes; and four half-sisters, Alzena Alleman, Alma Guidry, Martha Stutes and Lucille Broussard. A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 AM Friday until service time Friday.
