The Life of Evelyn Hicks

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 3:00 pm at the Delhomme Chapel of Flowers for Evelyn Hicks who passed away peacefully on September 6, 2009 at Mesquite Tree Nursing Home in Mesquite, TX.

Reverend Ira Robertson of Asbury United Methodist Church will conduct the funeral services. Internment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Gardens.

Evelyn, a resident of Lafayette since 1966, was the daughter of H.J. Hebert of Franklin, LA and Leolia Kinsey Hebert of Keota, OK. She was employed as a comptroller and full charge bookkeeper at Oakbourne Country Club and Al George, Inc in Lafayette. She was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she held numerous board positions and worked tirelessly in the Needy Nook program.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 39 Perry M. Hicks, Jr. and one son David H. Hicks, all of Lafayette.

She is survived by two sons: Mike Hicks of Mesquite, TX and his wife Linda, and Robert Hicks of Houston, TX and his wife Glenna; one daughter-in-law: Katie Johnson of Pine Prairie, LA; eight grandchildren: Mike Hicks, Jr., Stacey Turgeau, Robby Hicks, Mason Hicks, Keith and Laurie Moody, Drew Fellman and James (Buzz) Turner; and seven great-grandchildren: Holly, Emily and Mason Hicks, Charlotte, Ellyssa and Alex Sager, and Veronica Turner; two sisters-in-law: Jane Boyer of Mebane, NC and her husband Bob, and Catherine Ellis of Fort Worth, TX and her husband Alston; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 10:00 AM until time of services at Delhomme Funeral Home.
