The Life of Samuel Joseph Emerson
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Samuel Joseph Emerson, 16, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at his residence in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Robert Meche will officiate the services. Jody Beard will provide the music for the services.Survivors include his parents, Michael and Paula Emerson of Lafayette; one brother, Aaron Emerson; maternal grandparents, Dewey Cormier and Laura Cormier both of Lafayette; paternal grandmother, Margie Emerson of Lafayette; aunts and uncles, Norman Doucet, Brenda Carrel, Butch Doucet, Carson Doucet, Peggy Miller, Gloria Veillon, Margaret Beard, Vicky Hines, Debbie Briant and Janet Nott; his Godparents, Cilton Beard and Chasity Cahanin; and numerous cousins.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William C. Emerson: his maternal grandfather, Thomas Doucet; and his uncle, Herman Doucet.A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Sam was a loving son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the Comeaux High School Golf Team, and the Arrowhead PGA Tour. He was also the past winner of the State Golden Gloves Boxing Championship. Sam was extremely popular, funny, big hearted, and loved to tell stories. He loved everyone he was around, especially his grandparents. Sam was, and always will be, the light of his family?s life. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.Pallbearers will be Aaron Emerson, Michael Emerson, Colten Landry, Margie Emerson, Michael Ledoux, Dave Hays, Mike Chedester, Cory Deforrest and Julian Smith. The family would like to invite friends of Samuel, who wish to carry his casket and assist as Honorary Pallbearers, to do so if they desire. The family would also like to invite friends and family, who would like to speak on behalf of Samuel''s Memory, are welcomed to do so. The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
