The Life of Alecta Breaux

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 9, 2007 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Alecta Breaux, age 89, the former, Alecta Alleman, who died at her residence in Lafayette on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 after an extended illness.Interment will follow in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery.Reverend William Ollendick, OFM, Pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church in Lafayette will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Lisa Roy Shephert, organist, will sing for the Service, "Ave Maria", "I Call You To My Father's Home", "Jesus, Remember Me", and "J'irai la voir un jour".Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Amos and her husband, Harold Amos, Jr. of Baton Rouge and Gloria Starling and her husband, B. Dennis Starling of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Autin, Leigh Elsea, Harold Amos III, Christopher Starling, Jennifer S. Burnside, Michael Starling, Karen B. Davies and Richard J. Breaux and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Breaux, one son, Dudley James Breaux; her parents, Hebert and Ada Duhon Alleman; one brother, Harris Alleman and a sister, Mathilde O'Brien.A native of Lafayette, Mrs. Breaux was a member of St. Basil Catholic Community in Judice. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to everyone. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Breaux was employed as a sales clerk with Sears, Roebuck and Company for many years. She was an avid reader, gardener and seamstress. The family would like to extend special thanks to Joe Pelafigue and Jean Citizen with Hospice and Linda Stelly and also to Gale Freitag for their compassionate care and concern during Mrs. Breaux's illness.A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, February 9, 2007 from 8:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Breaux's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503. www.hospiceacadiana.com Pallbearers are Harold Amos III, Daniel Elsea, Christopher Starling, Michael Starling, B.
