The Life of Allen Milton Borland Jr.

Allen Milton Borland, Jr., born on July 14, 1922, went to heaven with his loving family by his side on Saturday, November 12, 2011. He was a devoted husband, loving father and blessing to 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Allen grew up in Port Neches Texas, star quarterback at Port Neches High School, served in the US Army in World War II in Europe, graduated from Texas A&M University and was an oil exploration geologist in his professional career, first with Sun Oil Company and later as an independent geologist in Lafayette, LA. He was president of the Lafayette Geological Society, volunteer for the Southwest Rehabilitation Center, assistant scoutmaster, and cheerleader for countless events in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Milton Borland, and Clara Ursula Keith Borland; his mother-in-law, Faye Hopkins; his brothers-in-law, Clyde Hopkins and Loyd Hopkins; and his son-in-law, Michael Doughty. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patsy Hopkins Borland; and children, Clara Lane Thibeaux of Rosenberg, TX and her husband, Jerry, Carter Allen Borland of Niceville, FL and his wife, Nannette, Dr.Thomas Aaron Borland of New Iberia, LA and his wife, Jerre Lynne, and Patricia Sue Doughty of Lafayette; one sister, Susie Matilda Kelly; one half-sister, Keith O'Neal; and 13 lovely grandchildren, Allen Thibeaux, Jeremy Thibeaux, Tommy Thibeaux, Chris Borland, Andrew Borland, Timothy Borland, Michael Borland, Jonathan Borland, Ben Borland, Wesley Borland, Audrey Borland, Devonne Doughty, and Annette Vaughn. The family requests that visitation be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and will resume on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Brierre of Louisiana Oncology Associates and staff, Hospice of Acadiana and Our Lady of Lourdes hospital and staff for the wonderful care of their loved one.
