The Life of Iola Broussard
Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Bennette Broussard the former Iola Monceaux, 91, will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at David Funeral Chapel of Lafayette with Fr. Degyeter and Fr. Mouton officiating. Visitation with be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of Orange, TX and a life long resident of Youngsville Mrs. Broussard died at 3:30AM on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Maison du Monde Living Center. She was the oldest of 10 children; as a young lady she assisted Dr. Young on house calls and at his hospital; was faithful in assisting elderly with their errands; and her and her husband owned Ben & I’s restaurant.
She is survived by her two sisters, Viola Holland of Coteau and Neola Chatman of Broussard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bennette “Ben” Broussard; her parents, Jules and Editha Bendeaux Monceaux; two brothers, Jacob and Joseph Allen Monceaux; and five sisters, Donatile Lopez, Agnes Golden, Enola LeJeune, Mary Lou Doucet, and Marie Louise Monceaux.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cecil Chatman, John Chatman, Keith Castille, Chris Primeaux, Dudley LeJeune, and Lester Viator.
David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
