The Life of Florence Jacob
Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, October 30, 2006, at 1:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Florence Bell Jacob, 81, who passed away Friday, October 27, 2006 at her residence.
Reverend Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.
Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jacob was the daughter of the late John Bell and the former Ezilda Labry both of Kaplan, LA. Florence was born in Kaplan, LA and resided in Lafayette, LA for the past 77 years. She was an active member of St. Jules Parish.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Sonnier and spouse, Bryan of Lafayette, and Brenda Buchanan and spouse, Alan of Lafayette; one son, John Warren Jacob and spouse, Julia of Lafayette; four grandchildren, John and Erin Preis, Jesse Delahoussaye, and Viktoria Jacob; and two great granddaughters, Karissa Rae and Sylvia Jaye.
Mrs. Jacob is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sylvia Bell and a host of wonderful neighbors and friends whose companionship she enjoyed throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Joseph Jacob; one brother, George O. Bell; one sister, Stella Hayes; one half brother, Adlor Bell; and one half sister, Eva Herpin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue Monday from 8:00 am until service time.
A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:00 pm by Father Michael Champagne of Hospice of Acadiana.
Readers will include Mary K. Bell, Judy Hebert and Mary Lou Jumonville. Gift Bearers will include Paul Hebert and Jamie Hess.
Pallbearers will include John Joseph Preis, Jesse Delahoussaye, Alan Buchanan, R.A. ''Butch'' Preis, Richard Bell, William Jacob, and Glen Jacob. Honorary Pallbearers will include Sidney Etie, J.C. Falls, Robert Rosser and Ronald Hayes.
