The Life of John A Troglen

Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott for John Allen Troglen, age 70, who embracing the light of God''s peace, left this world surrounded by his family and their undying love for him on June 20, 2006. Interment will take place at Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette. Rev. Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services and con-celebrant will be Rev. Timothy Richard, Pastor of St. Edmond. Mr. Troglen, the son of the late Marshal Troglen and the former Genevieve LeBlanc was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. He lived several of his childhood years in the New Orleans area, and returned to Lafayette attending Lafayette High School. After completing a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy and being discharged in January 1958, John returned to Lafayette to begin his law enforcement career with the City of Lafayette Police Department. He served the community as a Patrolman gradually moving up to the Detective Division, where he eventually became responsible for the quick response time to a shooting at the Greyhound Bus Station where a brother officer''s life was lost, he was awarded the Optimist Club Policeman of the Year award. It was said that his action saved the lives of many who were arriving on buses at the time. Mr. Troglen worked for Centrifuges, Inc. and worked in the service and fabrication sections. Later he was co-owner of Solids Control, Inc. Following many years in the Oil Patch, he returned to law enforcement completing the ALETA program for Correctional Officers in November 1987. Later he was transferred to the Lafayette Regional Airport where he worked in Airport Security until April of 2000. Following one year of retirement, he returned to the work force as a part-time Driver/Guard for Loomis Fargo until November 2005. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Barras Troglen. Also left grieving his loss are his children and their families, Brent Troglen and his wife, Vicky, Trudy D''Augereau and her husband, Tim, David Troglen and his wife, Sondra and Mona Troglen Calvin; ten grandchildren, Paige Suire, Andre'' Cormier, Toby Cormier, Kasey Troglen, Lyndsey D''Augereau, Megan Troglen, Jacque D''Augereau, Jeanne'' Troglen, Brentney Troglen and Heather Troglen; two great grand-daughters, Morgan Lane Talley and Annabelle Elizabeth (Annie) Thompson; two brothers, Warren and Jimmy Renfroe; four sisters, Agnes Campbell, Frances (Jay) Venable, Essie (Puggy) Romero, Juanita Lauland and husband, Steve and the Martin Hanks family, life long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Henry and Agnes LeBlanc and one brother, Sonny Troglen. Visiting hours will be observed on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand in Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Brent Troglen, David Troglen, Norwood Hollier, Andre'' Cormier, Toby Cormier and Jacque D''Augereau. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Nepveux, Tim D''Augereau, Raleigh Nepveux, Tony Nepveux, Larry Cormier and Calvin Blanco, Sr. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
