The Life of Elmer Luquette

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Elmer Luquette, 89, who passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2010 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Karen Sibille and her husband, Conley of Lafayette, Darrell Martin and his wife, Doris of North Carolina, Rudy Luquette of Lafayette, Michael Luquette and his wife, Jackie of Lafayette, Portia Tierney and her husband, Ed of New Orleans, Bane Luquette and his wife, Toni of Lafayette and Christopher Luquette and his wife, Robin of Crowley; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of, Elizabeth "Betty" Luquette; his parents, Joseph Dupré and Alida Broussard Luquette; two brothers; and three sisters.

A native of Theall, Louisiana, Mr. Luquette married his wife, Betty in July of 1957 and moved to Lafayette in 1959 where they lived and raised his family. He was a member of the United States Coast Guard, where he served in WWII on the USS Brunswick as a Seaman 1st Class. Mr. Luquette worked in the oilfield for over 25 years until his retirement and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Bane Luquette, Rudy Luquette, Chris Luquette, Ed Tierney, Mike Luquette, Conley Sibille and Chase Luquette. Honorary Pallbearer will be Darryl Martin.

A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday, September 20, 2010 from 8:00 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Luquette''s name to Journey Hospice, 101 La Rue France, Suite 406, Lafayette, LA. 70508.
