Known as a protector and a heroin to more than just her family, one of God’s warriors has left us, and has returned home; but her spirit will live on forever. Sieglinde “Linda” Leibrich Dominique was born September 27, 1941 in Kaiserslautern, Germany during the midst of World War II. Her childhood was filled with many challenges, and she had to learn to survive in an environment that most of us would fear. Due to her situation, Linda was forced to grow up fast. She married an American soldier, had a baby girl and then moved to the United States. Perhaps her biggest challenge in life would be leaving her family behind in Germany but Linda’s strength prevailed. Upon arriving in Rayne, Louisiana, she quickly adjusted to American life and learned to speak English. Eventually Linda would have three more children. In her twenties Linda divorced, but would fall in love again. This absolutely beautiful woman caught the eye of Roland Dominique and they were wed in 1972. A few years later, they had another son. Together Roland and Linda ran numerous businesses and had a very eventful life. She was a very genuine woman, a great judge of character, strong willed, courageous, and always led by example. She was the protector of her family, and a hero to many for what she stood for and for the many challenges she overcame in her life. She was no doubt a warrior. Linda always stood up for the weak and helped the needy. She loved children and supported the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was a good Catholic, a fantastic wife, a loyal friend, and an amazing mother. The qualities she instilled in her family will no doubt be carried on for generations to come. She was humble, funny, and had a remarkable spirit. She had a magnetic personality and was loved by so many. Linda was undoubtedly one of a kind. She was a remarkable woman who will truly be missed, but never forgotten. She is survived by her beloved husband, Roland Dominique; her children, Debra Seaux and her husband Bobby, Bethany Newville and her husband Randy, Bryon Gilbert and his wife Sherri, and her youngest son Alcide Dominique; her grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Tyler, Kristen and Kellie Seaux, Joshua and Kimberly Newville, and Hannah Gilbert; her brothers and sisters, Emma, Karl, Anshet, Otto, Gertrude; and several nieces and nephews whom live in the US and abroad. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Louise Leibrich; and her oldest brother, Ludwig Leibrich. Her pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Bobby Seaux and Randy Newville; her grandsons, Brandon Seaux, Justin Seaux, Tyler Seaux and Joshua Newville. Honorary pallbearers will be her daughter-in-law, Sherri Gilbert; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Dominique Ashy and Helen Joe Dominique; her granddaughters, Kimberly Newville, Kristen, Seaux, Kellie Seaux and Hannah Gilbert; her cousin, Johnny Abdella; and close friends, Joyce Monique, Dell Phillips, Jack Koubi, Dawn Dupuis Clark, Penny Russum, Ruth Bonin, and Joycelyn Castille. A Rosary will be prayed by Rose Marie Petro Koury at 7:00 pm today, November 25, 2007 in the Delhomme Funeral Home. The family requests visiting hours be observed today, November 25, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again Monday, November 26, 2007 from 8:00 am until the time of funeral.
