The Life of Sumter Pierre Cousin Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers honoring the life of Sumter P. ACuz@ Cousin, Jr., age 79, who died peacefully at his residence in Ormond Beach, Florida on Friday, June 9, 2006. The Rev. Marty Borcherding, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Cousin, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and resided in Ormond Beach, Florida. He graduated from St. John=s Jesuit High School and attended Centenary College in Shreveport where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Prior to his retirement, he worked in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Cousin served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling, reading, and devoting time to the Salvation Army. He also enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was considered a Acharacter@ by those who knew him for his wit and outgoing personality. Survivors include his two daughters, Christine C. Doucet and her husband, Charlie, Suzette C. Bienvenu, and her husband, Robert, all of Lafayette; three sisters, Ethelyn C. Park, and her husband, Bob, residents of Hermosa Beach, California, Marguerite C. McGill, resident of Holland, Michigan, and Mary C. Rains, and her husband, Ted, of Golden, Colorado; four grandchildren, Emily Doucet, Aaron Judice, Jacqueline Judice and Nicholas Judice; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sumter P. Cousin, Sr. and Cora Segura Cousin, brother, George Cousin, and a sister, Cora C. McLaughlin. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Charlie Doucet and Robert Bienvenu; his grandsons, Aaron and Nicholas Judice; brother-in-law, Ted Rains; and godchild, Shearn Lemoine. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Monday, June 12, 2006, from 4:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m.; and from 8:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army.
