The Life of Hazel Mary Melancon

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 3, 2008 at a Mass of Christian Burial in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Hazel S. Melancon, 84, formally of Lafayette, who died Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Houston.

Rev. John De Leeuw will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services. Karen Broussard will perform the following selections ''Prayer of St. Francis'', ''Nearer My God to Thee'', ''On Eagle''s Wings'', and ''Precious Lord''.

Internment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A native of Arnaudville, Mrs. Melancon was the daughter of the late Vincent Savoie and the former Edmie Lertillier. Mrs. Melancon worked as a sales clerk at Montgomery Wards for 15 years. Prior to that she was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress at the Evangeline Hotel.

Survivors include one son, Randy Melancon and his wife, Ellie, of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Jackie and her husband, Darryl Hood of Houston; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Markus Melancon.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until time of service.

A rosary will be recited by Bro. Francis Fontenot at 6:30 pm Sunday in the Delhomme Bertrand Funeral Home.

Donations may be made in the name of Hazel S. Melancon to A-Med Hospice, 3535 Briarpark Drive, Ste. 220, Houston, TX 77042.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of funeral arrangements.
