The Life of Luke Robert

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011, at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Luke Robert, 92, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Mausoleum. Reverend Wayne Duet, Pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Lisa Duhon, Sonya Adams and Lindsey Thigpen. Lectors will be Keith Duhon and Shirley Robert. Survivors include two daughters, June Gardiner and her husband George of Maurice and Camella Vercher of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren, Lisa Kay Duhon, Troy Gardiner, Corey Gardiner, Sonya M. Adams and Lindsey Thigpen; eleven great grandchildren, Spencer and Victoria Duhon, Candace and Mackenzie Gardiner, Mallie, Annison and Paxton Gardiner, Ashleigh and Alexis Adams and Taylor and Leah Thigpen; and one brother, Norris N. Robert and his wife Shirley of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertha Bower Robert; parents, Noe and Jeanne Bertrand Robert; a son-in-law, Dennis Vercher; and a brother, Simon Lee Robert. Luke was born in Breaux Bridge and a resident of Lafayette for almost seventy years. He proudly served his country as a member of the Unites States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Delta Division, 1st Battalion, Company F of Breaux Bridge; a lifetime member of the American Legion #133 of Breaux Bridge; a member of the VFW Post 4215 of Breaux Bride and the VFW Post 9822 of Judice; a member of the Breaux Bridge area Honor Guard; and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1940. He retired from Ralph''s Electronics after twenty-eight years of service. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Troy Gardiner, Corey Gardiner, Spencer Duhon, George Gardiner, Dwayne Broussard and Jerry Bower. Honorary Pallbearers will be Norris Robert, André Broussard, Fred Zeringue, Stanley LeBlanc and John LeBlanc. Visitation will be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
