The Life of Rufus Benjamin White

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 14, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Rufus Benjamin White, 84, who passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Lafayette Extended Care Hospital.

Reverend Ira Robinson, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church will officiate at the funeral services.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette.

Mr. White, the son of the late Horace Franklin White and the former Hattie Fowler, was a native of Mineral Wells, TX and a resident of Carencro. He served in the U.S. Army in the Air Corp during WWII. He retired from Dresser Oilfield Company. Mr. White enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandson. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

Survivors include his two sons, Ronnie D. White and wife, Laura from Crowley, and Danny R. White and wife, Cathy of Carencro; four grandchildren, Crystal Smith and husband, Elliott, Alan White, David White, and Matthew White and wife, Sarah; great-grandchild, Luke Smith; two sisters, Gene Drake of Orange, TX, and Louise Johnson of San Jose, TX; and brother, Cecile White of Phoenix City, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Franklin White and Hattie Fowler White; wife, Juanita S. White; sister, Edna White; and two brothers, Howard White and Billy White.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie D. White, Danny R. White, David White, Alan White, Matthew White, and Elliott Smith.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of funeral arrangements.
