The Life of Leo Merlin Potier
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Leo Merlin Potier, 69, who passed away on August 17, 2011 at 2:50 pm at his residence.
Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Leo Merlin Potier, born September 7, 1941, died on August 17, 2011 at his home with all of his family around him. He worked for Tops Woodwork and the Lafayette Parish School Board until he retired in 2001. He enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends and cooking every Wednesday night for them. He enjoyed his houseboat for many years. He loved his dogs, Rebel, Peewee and Gypsy.
He leaves behind a loving wife of 49 years and ten months, Betty T. Potier; one daughter, Peggy Potier Broussard and husband Jeffery of Mire, LA; three sons, Lee M. Potier and wife Christina of Duson, LA, Dean P. Potier of Lafayette, LA, and Lance M. Potier and companion Tiffany Thibodeaux of Judice, LA; one sister, Clara Rose Latour of Cankton, LA; three brothers, Clyde Potier of Judice, LA, Mark Donnie Potier of Carencro, LA and Dale Potier of Judice, LA; seven grandchildren, Linsay Potier, Shelly B. LaGrange, Jacob Broussard, Chasity Potier, Hunter Potier, Racquel Potier and Jordan Potier; one step grandchild, Charity Thibodeaux; four great grandchildren, Owen, Haden and Payten LaGrange and Leah Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Potier, his mother, Eleanor Savoy Potier, three brothers and two sisters.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Lance, Dean and Lee Potier, Jeffery and Jacob Broussard and Jason Quebodeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter and Jordan Potier.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
