The Life of Robert E. Gangewere

Robert E. Gangewere, 84, of  Kutztown, died Friday, July 27, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  He was the husband of Joan M. H. (Hoch) Gangewere whom he married July 18, 1959.  Born in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Archie S. and Daisy M. (Reitz) Gangewere.  Mr. Gangewere was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he served as a Deacon. Robert honorably and faithfully served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Robert worked as a molder from 1961 to 1982 at Kutztown Foundry, Kutztown, he also served as treasurer of the Molders Union Local 361; then he worked as a cabinetmaker for over 10 years at Quaker Maid Kitchens, Leesport, he retired in 1995.  Robert enjoyed sports, swimming and woodworking.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Joan, Robert is survived by sons: Mark R. Gangewere, Kutztown; and James A., husband of Kristen H. (Dietrich) Gangewere, Leesport.  Other survivors include a brother, Richard A. Gangewere, Allentown, and sisters: Betty E. (Gangewere) Heimbach, Orefield; and Nancy E. (Gangewere) Becker, Gouldsboro.  There are two grandchildren, Chad James Gangewere and Thea Sabine Gangewere.  Robert was predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine H. Gangewere and Diane L. Gangewere.

A memorial service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Dr. Jennifer M. Bannerman, officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force, in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.  Relatives and friends may call Thursday, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made in Robert's memory to  Saint Paul's U.C.C. Church, 47 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown, PA 19530.
