The Life of Jean C. Snow

Jean C. (Schille) Snow, 94, of Topton, formerly of West Caldwell, NJ, died peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2018, in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Elmer E. Snow, who she married on December 21, 1944, and who died on April 29, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Jean was a daughter of the late Raoul and Clara (Schlenker) Schille. She was Presbyterian in faith. Jean was a 1941 graduate of Clifford J. Scott High School. East Orange, NJ, and a 1945 graduate of Newark State Teacher's College, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Jean was employed as an elementary and high school art teacher, working for the Cedar Grove School District in Cedar Grove, New Jersey for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Jean loved traveling, reading, gardening and enjoyed flowers. She was also an accomplished artist, seamstress, baker and cook.

Jean is survived by a daughter, Carol A. (Snow), wife of Roy W. Rogers, Youngstown, NY; and a son, Craig E., husband of Mary (Patti) Snow, Hampden, Maine; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her parents, husband, and a brother, Donald Schille.

A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Deibert Hall, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 South Home Avenue, Topton, PA, with Reverend Timothy W. Sadler officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. in Deibert Hall.
