The Life of Peggy Haller Brown

Peggy Haller Brown, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2017, after a brave battle with lung and brain cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God were her support during the last year of her life.
Peggy is survived by her children, Gary Haller, Jr. of Boise, Idaho and Jeanine Haller Piskurich, of Houston, Texas; her son-in-law, Nicholas Piskurich; her granddaughters, Caroline and Catherine Piskurich, of Houston, Texas; her sister, Mary Jo Carson of Scott, Louisiana; her niece, Laura Moreau and her husband George Moreau of Lafayette, Louisiana; and her great-nieces, Karissa and Kaitlyn Thibodeaux of Lafayette, Louisiana; and her nephew, Jesse Castleman of Scott, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Joseph Carmon and Ruth Mitchusson Carmon; her brother, James Stephen Carmon; and her nephew, John Carson.
Peggy was born to the late James Joseph Carmon and Ruth Mitchusson Carmon in Tomato, Arkansas on September 3, 1941. She graduated from Wauconda High School in Wauconda, Illinois and married Gary Haller at the early age of 17. She loved her husband and devoted her life to raising her children and her extended family in Arkansas and Louisiana. As a single mother arriving in Louisiana, she worked three jobs to provide for her family with selfless love and determination.
She began a business career after her children were grown, as President and Owner of Superior Microfilming Services in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a successful entrepreneur and loved forming long-term relationships with her clients and her lifelong friends and colleagues, Nancy Christy, Debbie Hebert and Brenda Potier. They always held a very special place in her heart.
After retirement, Peggy (Aunt Peg as she was known to many) had more time for travel and her beloved family. She loved her sister, Mary and her nieces and nephews immensely and they blessed her life beyond words. Special thanks and appreciation to Mary, Laura, George, Karissa, Kaitlyn and Jesse for the love, laughter and kindness you added to her life. She adored her son Gary and was very proud of his talent as an artist, always supporting his hopes and dreams. She spent much time in Houston, Texas with her daughter Jeanine, Nick and their girls Caroline and Catherine and savored many special memories with her grand girls.
Peggy loved the Lord and spent much time in His Word. She attended Family Life Christian Fellowship in Lafayette, Louisiana and attended many services at Second Baptist Church while in Houston, Texas. She also was an avid parishioner of Dr. Charles Stanley and his In Touch Ministries.
To know Peggy was to know fun, friendliness, faith, family, music and authenticity. She never met a stranger and served God by helping many in her lifetime. She admired God’s handiwork in all things, spending many hours of her life in her treasured garden. She also cared for many pets throughout her life – mostly strays and those mistreated, which speaks to her compassion and humanity for life in all forms. She left this world counting her blessings and being thankful for a life well lived.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for their care the last year of her life.
