The Life of Steward F Stump

Steward F. “Stumpy” Stump, 85, of Greenwich Township, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the loving husband of Marie L. (Trexler) Stump, whom he married on September 19, 1959.

Born in Lenhartsville, Steward was a son of the late William and Verna (George) Stump. He was a member of New Bethel Church, Kempton, and was a 1949 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Steward honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 as a Specialist, Third Class, mostly stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Steward started his career working as a truck driver for Burgmeyer Trucking, Reading, and Interstate Motor Freight, Allentown, for many years. Upon the closure of Interstate Motor Freight, Steward worked for several local plumbers before starting his own business, Stump’s Plumbing and Heating, now APEX Professional Mechanical Services, Krumsville, currently operated by his son, Ted. Steward was a member of Kutztown Fire Company, Kutztown Rod and Gun Club, and Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, gardening, playing cards with his friends, going to the cabin, and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he loved giving rides on his tractor. His comical and jokester personality will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Steward is survived by his Wife of 58 years, Marie, his two Children, Ted W., husband of Sherry L. (Meitzler) Stump, and Amy B. (Stump) Sterner, companion of David J. Moyer, Sr., all of Kutztown; and a Brother, Sterling Stump, Lenhartsville. He was “Pappy” to his 3 Grandchildren, Janelle M. Stump, Shelby E. (Stump), wife of Jake Schuster, and Colton R. Sterner; Step-Grandchildren, Justin D. Moyer and David J. Moyer, Jr., and his 3 Great-Grandchildren, Tanner Z. Schuster, Haven G. Stump and Summer L. Schuster. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his Yocco Hot Dog Partner, Kasey. Steward was predeceased by his Parents, 2 Brothers, Russell Stump and Wayne Stump, and a Sister, Eleanor Stump.
