The Life of Goldie Rome

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at St. Jules Catholic Church - Lafayette for Goldie Garber Rome, 93, who passed away on September 16, 2017.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Goldie attended Spencer Business College. She was employed by South Central Bell as a telephone operator for 13 years then went to work for the Holiday Inn Hotel in Lafayette as a PBX Operator until retirement. Goldie was a caregiver to her mother, her husband and sister, Mazie. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her only daughter and grandson.
Goldie, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Rodolph Garber and the former Birdie Richardson.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Rome Dailey; one grandson, Scott Dailey and wife, Alexis Broussard Dailey; great grandchildren, Amelia, Samuel and Cullen Dailey; two sister in laws, Palmyre "Polly" Garber and Eula Garber as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cullen Rome; siblings, Mazie (Cleve) Hebert, Eunice (Charles) May, Harry (Nola) Garber, Walter (Eula) Garber and Frank (Polly) Garber, Sr. and her son in law, Russell Dailey.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 8:00AM until the time of service.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Delores Dubuc, Arline Morris, Nina Dixon, Mattie Citizen and Kerri Boudreaux; her neighbors, Clint, Tessie and Kylie Shows; great niece, Amanda Hebert who called every day and her ever vigilant, sister in law, Polly.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Carmelites or to Hospice of Acadiana.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
