The Life of Shirley L Bogert

Shirley L. (Stimmel) Bogert, 79, a long-time resident of Fleetwood, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 7, 2017 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.

Born in Kutztown, Shirley was a daughter of the late Robert Stimmel and Helen M. (Kline) Woomer. She was raised by her mother, Helen, and step-father, the late Herman H. Woomer. Shirley was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown, and was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School. She worked in the clean room at Lucent Technologies, Reading, for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Shirley was an avid BINGO player who loved flowers, birds and crocheting. She attended Berks Encore, Fleetwood, for many years. Shirley will fondly be remembered by her family as the best and sweetest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law in the world!

Shirley is survived by her five Children, Brian C., husband of Lisa Bogert, Tracey L. (Bogert), wife of Raymond Barlet, Sr., Jacqueline K. (Bogert), wife of Michael Angell, Gerald E. Bogert, and Edwin W., Jr., husband of Cheryl I. Bogert, all of Fleetwood; 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by a Sister, Carol “Patsy” Strozyk of Mertztown. She was predeceased by her Parents, a Daughter, Deborah E. (Bogert) Barrett in 2001; and a Sister, June M. (Woomer) Smith in 2008.

A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 257 W. Walnut Street, Kutztown, with Reverend John W. Davies officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests that contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. John’s U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 257 W. Walnut St., Kutztown, PA  19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
