The Life of Shirley A Blaskowsky
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM
in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for
Shirley Blaskowsky, age 87, who died on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at
Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Reverend Weldon Moak, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Broussard will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Blaskowsky and his fianceé Jill; two daughters, D''Lane Dronet and her husband Keith and Donita Bonin and her husband Orien; grandchildren, Holly Blaskowsky Sain, Christopher, Matthew, and Nicole Blaskowsky; two great grandchildren, Morgan and Macy Sain; and one sister, Alice Kampschror.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Buck and the former Freida Reil; brothers, Alvin, Johnny, Ronald and Raymond Buck and her sisters, Lorraine Merchant and Phyllis Oberhofer.
A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for 51 years, Shirley Blaskowsky was born in Glendive, Montana on October 3, 1929. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Broussard, Louisiana. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Blaskowsky was employed with the Salvation Army for 32 years. She was a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Bienvenu Counseling Service. Mrs. Blaskowsky enjoyed woodcraft and sewing. She was an avid sports fan, especially football and loved the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.
Pallbearers will be Blake Landry, Tommy Brashear, Doyle Brashear, Brian Brashear, Johnny Girouard, Robert Viator, Billy Pippen, and Darrell Landry.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Andre Chapman, Bill Zea, Danny Hebert, Keith Tyer and Russell Thibodeaux.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Friday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made in Shirley Blaskowsky''s name to the Salvation Army, 115 E. Third Street, Lafayette, LA 70501.
A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Blaskowsky family to Dr. Britni Hebert and the Nursing Staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and The Blake Retirement Home.
