The Life of Elliott F DeLong

Elliott F. DeLong, 83, of Oley, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Exeter Greens Care & Rehabilitation, Exeter, where he was a patient since June. He was the husband of Elaine M. (Hartman) DeLong. They were married February 20, 1981.

Born in Lyon Station, he was a son of the late Elwood F. and Pauline R. (Haring) DeLong. Mr. DeLong was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, where he was a member of the senior choir for over 65 years. He also served as a former church council member, recording secretary, and member of the senior bell choir. Mr. Delong was a 1952 graduate of Kutztown Area High School; and was a United States Army veteran. He was employed as a builder and assembler for The Allen Organ Company, Macungie, for 15 years, where he specialized in building theatre organs. He previously was employed by the former Walbert Lumber, Mertztown, for 32 years. Elliott was a long-time member of The Brandywine Minstrels, performing in their yearly shows for over 30 years. He was also a former Topton Borough Council member, Cub Scout Master for Topton Troop #110, and a charter member of Topton Little League. A very artistic man, Elliott enjoyed coloring and painting.

In addition to his Wife of 36 years, Elaine, Elliott is survived by his two Sons, Bruce E., husband of Barbara A. (Anglin) DeLong, Phenix City, Alabama, and Dean A., husband of Lori (Bleiler) DeLong, Mertztown; Step Daughter, Michelle E. (Reetz), wife of Staffan Tjernstrom, Chicago, Illinois; Sister, Paulette A. "Cooky"  (DeLong), widow of Lance E. James, Topton; 4 Grandchildren, Matthew, husband of Kayla (Corman) DeLong, Rebecca DeLong, Judston DeLong, and Peyton DeLong; and a Great-Grandson, Lucas Matthew DeLong. He was predeceased by a Brother, Nelson DeLong.

A memorial service to celebrate Elliott’s life will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 South Home Avenue, Topton. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the church. Military honors will follow the service. Inurnment will be private in Christ Church Cemetery, McKeansburg.

The family requests that contributions be made in Elliott's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 37, Topton, PA  19562-0037. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
