The Life of Arthur C Greiss
Arthur C. “Sonny” Greiss, 73, of Longswamp Township, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 in the inpatient hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the loving husband of Penny K. (Kistler) Greiss, whom he married on July 10, 1965.
Born in Longswamp Township, Arthur was a son of the late Clarence and Helen May (Gamler) Greiss. He was a member of Huff's Union Church, Alburtis, and was a 1962 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton. In 1980, Arthur started Greiss Carpentry, Alburtis. He owned and operated the business for over 30 years, until his son Jamie purchased it. Arthur continued to work part-time for his son for five more years, until his retirement. Prior to starting his own business, Arthur was employed by the former General Seating and Sash Co., Brighton Reinert Construction and Trumbauer Plumbing, all of Topton. Sonny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of several local gun clubs.
In addition to his Wife of almost 52 years, Penny, Arthur is survived by a Daughter, Michele L. (Greiss), wife of Michael D. Hersh, Topton, and a Son, Jamie K. Greiss, companion of Kelly L. Fronheiser, Mertztown; 5 Grandchildren, Michaela Hersh, Megan Hersh, Morgan Hersh, Jacob Greiss and Adalynn Greiss; 2 Sisters, Pauline (Greiss) Reinert, and Helen (Greiss) Bower, both of Topton. He was predeceased by his Parents, and 2 Sisters, Carrie (Greiss) Keiser and Jean (Greiss) Adam.
A memorial service to celebrate Arthur's life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with his pastor, Reverend Jane M. Kropa, officiating. Inurnment will follow in Huff's Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
